What is this tool for?

oNex's System Manager (oNSysMgr) is a simple system management tool.

In the future, the tool will be capable of being run entirely offline (aside from fetching online-hosted data).

What state is the tool in?

This tool is in alpha. The tool may change at any time, without warning. The tool may break at any time, without warning. There are no guarantees about any feature, output, layout, formatting, etc.

This tool is exclusively presented for you, the user, to be able to provide feedback and test bugs. It is not expected that you will use the tool in its current state for any purpose other than testing.

Handle with care. Do not rely on this tool.

How does it work?

This is an alpha build. The following instructions may change at any time.

How to use the tool:

  1. Obtain an export file from Simply Plural.
    • This is done in the app: Go to Settings > Account > Export your data. You will receive an email with export.json and a link to download your avatars.
  2. Upload export.json to this tool.
  3. Click the Begin Import button.
  4. Browse your system data in the Results box.

Instructions for testing:

  • Check areas of the tool for things that look incorrect, such as markdown (eg: **bold text**, ||spoilers||, and ![images](image.url)).
  • Check that the data you expect to see is present and displaying correctly, such as names and descriptions.
  • Check each function of the tool to make sure it does what you expect, such as changing between different views or clicking on tool buttons.
  • Check the accessibility of the tool, such as visual needs or mental needs.

What is metadata?

Metadata is information about the entire system as a whole. For example, system name and privacy settings are types of metadata.
The metadata tab also displays various settings and options. Some settings are the same as settings used by other services, such as PluralKit's config options, while others are specific to oNSysMgr.

What are members?

Member entities are beings within a system. You might be more familiar with terms like alter or part, instead of member. Members work the same way as utilities, so the distinction between the two entity types is up to you. Some users may prefer to only use one type, while others might choose to use both.

What are utilities?

Utilities are non-member entities. The term "utility" is borrowed from the PluralKit community, where utility proxies can be used to log whole groups as fronting more easily. This tool also considers "custom fronts" such as mood indicators to be utilities as well. Utilities work the same way as members, so the distinction between the two entity types is up to you. Some users may prefer to only use one type, while others might choose to use both.
